Have you ever had surgery? What for?
Yeah, I’ve had surgery.
More than one.
Some of it I talk about. Most of it, I don’t.
It changed things; how I move, how I rest, how I pay attention to my body.
It made me softer in some ways.
I notice other people’s pain now. I don’t assume anything.
You really don’t know what someone’s carrying; what they’re healing from.
That’s something I remind myself of often.
