We are living in a time when despair feels almost ordinary. The headlines change, but the pain feels the same. People are trying to hold on while the world keeps shaking. Some are waiting for a miracle that seems delayed, sitting still in the middle of broken promises and silent prayers. The lepers in 2 Kings 7 knew that feeling. They looked at one another and said, “Why sit we here until we die?” It was not a question of fear but of faith. When you have nothing left to lose, that is when you discover what it really means to trust God. Desperate times do not mean God is absent. They mean He is calling you to move even when you cannot see how it will work. If I never had a problem, I would never know that God can fix it.
God is still opening windows in the middle of what feels like a closed world. He is still sending provision when resources are low and still reminding us that hope can grow right out of the dirt that despair left behind. But we cannot keep His goodness to ourselves. If He has brought you through, tell somebody. If He has lifted you, reach back and lift someone else. Faith does not wait for comfort. It acts in courage. It moves when there is no guarantee. It believes that it does not take God long to do what He intends to do.
Neighbor, I have nothing to lose because I know who holds the outcome. Hope is found right in the same place despair tried to bury you.
