Storms have a way of revealing what we’ve built our lives on. They don’t wait until we’re prepared. They don’t pause for us to get our footing. They just come. And when they do, the foundation matters.
Matthew 7:24–27 lays it out clearly. Hearing God’s Word is one thing. Acting on it is another. Both people in the story heard the Word. One built on rock. The other on sand. The difference wasn’t the storm. It was the response.
So what is your life built on?
Some paths are easier, more popular, more comfortable. But easy doesn’t always mean right. The broad path feels like it works for a while—until it doesn’t. The narrow path can feel costly. But it’s the one that holds up when life gets real.
The same goes for what you feed your spirit. There is good fruit and bad fruit. Life-giving truth and empty noise. Are you taking in what nourishes your soul, or just what’s convenient?
Not everyone who goes to church has a strong foundation. Going through the motions won’t protect you when everything around you starts shaking. It’s not about performance. It’s about alignment. It’s about honoring the Word of God and living by it, not just listening to it.
We’re living in a time where distractions are constant and compromise is easy. But the Spirit still speaks. The warnings are there. And it’s on us to pay attention.
I’ve had moments where I didn’t feel ready. Times when the storm came fast and loud. But I’m still standing. Not because everything has been easy, but because God is who He says He is. I know the enemy would love to see me collapse. But he doesn’t get the final word.
There is always an alternative to despair. It starts with choosing what you build on—before the next storm comes.
